I've finally decided to join the blogging world and of course, my first blog will be about golf (Jason Y will appreciate that). Earlier this year, I told Ethan that for his 4th birthday I would take him to our local par 3 course to go golfing with daddy. When Ethan's birthday finally rolled around it happened to fall close to the clinical requirement deadlines for my third year. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed until the end of June. Ethan, was of course devastated that he had to wait a couple of weeks to finally go golfing with daddy. At last the momentous day arrived and it was as much of a dream come true for me as it was for Ethan. We both had a great time! Here is my top five list of things that Ethan said during his first round with dad.
1. "Where's Tiger Woods?" (Ethan is a big Tiger fan too)
my response: "He's hurt"
2. Ethan's follow-up question "Does Tiger Woods need a band-aid?"
After laughing my head off, my response: "Yes, a big one on his knee."
He continued to ask me about Tiger with deep concern for the next five minutes. He was finally appeased when I said "maybe next time, Tiger will be here with his daughter." He liked that idea.
3. Ethan scolded me saying "Dad you can't use my green tee it's my favorite color, you have to use a blue tee since that's your favorite color." Apparently this was a severe violation of father and son golf etiquette, since he was almost reduced to tears when I tried to use his green tee.
4. After a few holes Ethan began to take practice swings just like his dad. When I asked him what he was doing his response was nonchalant, "I'm just practicing my swing Dad."
5. Whenever Ethan swings hard and misses I'll usually tell him to keep his eye on the ball. On the last hole after making my final practice swing (next to the ball), I hear Ethan laugh and say "Dad you gotta keep your eye on the ball."
We had a blast! Here are a few pictures and a video from our outing
Ethan's Final score: 78 (not counting the 15 strokes he made with his driver to get out of the sand on hole #9) a mere 51 shots over par on the 9 hole course.

This was Ethan's first tee shot. He actually out drove me! I hit my shot off the hosel (shaft) of my club into the rough on the right about 20 yards. Ethan hit his about 40 yards, just 20 yards short of the green. It was his best drive all day. He ended up making a legitimate 6 on this hole which was his best score all day. So much for first tee jitters!!

This was Ethan's best approach shot from 25 yards off the green to 6 1/2 feet. He 4 putted from there.

This was Ethan's best putt of the day. The ball is actually obscured by Ethan, he left it about 2 1/2 feet left of the cup. This was his only 2 putt on the day.

Your talking golf and it's all Greek to me. Looks like you had fun, though. It can't be easy to golf with that big belly of yours?!?!? I think Ethan and Jeff had a huge advantage over you.
Jeff, that is seriously so funny! He is such a cute kid and it's great that you boys are spending father/son time together. That's the stuff we remember later on. We miss you guys. Give Janell and the kids our love. Hope things are perfect on the 31st. We love you all!
Ethan is such a cutie!! Looks like he will be a golfer like his Dad. Next time you are out he may need to give brady some tips!
Jeff your son is so fraking cute. I can't get over his form. I bet you guys just had a blast. I still can't belive that he can play 9 holes. I start to get boad and the second hole. I love and miss you guys tons I wish November was next week so we could come play
Jeff: What a dream come true to take Ethan golfing. He has a really good backswing (even if he needs to work on his follow through!). I love that you kept his score so diligently. Someday when he's schooling you - shooting mid-70's or something - you'll be able to remind him of his first score. That's awesome! Can't wait to do that in a few years with my little guy.
Watch out Tiger ~ Ethan's on your heels. What a fun, awesome day. You go Dad ! Love ya, Mop
Jeff, that is soo funny! Looks like he will follow in your footsteps, although, you better practice because it looks like he will pass you up at some point! Go Ethan! Heidi
Jeffrey Gregerson, that is stinkin hilarious! Ethan truly is a mini you, and thats a good thing to be!
I am sure it was a memorable day for the both of you. That is wonderful that you strive to balance time with your family, even when you have so little free time at all! Cudos for being a rad dad!

PS please move to Selah with your amazing family, and I swear to be your wife's maid/ nanny forever!!
Holy Stinking Cuteness! Jeff, you are seriously the greatest Dad ever. I bet all Ethan can talk about is your golf trip and when you get to go golfing next. I love it! Give that guy a big hug from his aunt Rayna. :)
Janell,
HAVE THE BABY ALREADY so we can send our gift!!!! Jeez! Be considerate of others and just start pushing. Labor will start if you try hard enough! I don't think you're doing your part here.

Jeff, so glad to read a blog written by you. You will never believe this, but I LOVE to golf. Casey started teaching me a little over a year ago, and I absolutely love going. Someday me, Casey, you, and Jannell should go, and Ethan and Ryllie can come too. We've taken her a couple of times, and she loves it too. Hi Nelly!
